What does the Sponge Clip actually do?

It tracks how much water you drink and sends that data to the Sponge app. Every sip is recorded automatically — no buttons, no logging. Open the app to see your daily intake, progress toward your goal, and hydration history.

What bottles does it work with?

The Sponge Clip works with virtually any water bottle with a flat or slightly curved base. The magnetic adhesive attaches to the bottom and the Clip snaps on securely. You don’t need to buy a new bottle.

How accurate is it?

The Sponge Clip is highly accurate under typical use conditions based on our internal testing. For best results, use the same bottle consistently and keep the device properly attached to the base.

Does it need the app open to track my intake?

No. The Sponge Clip records data directly on the device throughout your day. Open the app at least once before your battery runs out to sync and save your data — that’s all it takes.

How long does the battery last?

Up to 8 days on a single charge. It recharges via USB-C — the cable is included in the box.

Is the app-lock feature included?

Yes. You can choose which apps get locked until you hit your daily hydration goal. Once you do, they unlock automatically. No manual check-in required.

How much water should I be drinking?

General guidelines suggest around 3.7 liters (125 oz) per day for men and 2.7 liters (91 oz) for women, though this varies by body size, activity level, and climate. The Sponge app lets you set a custom goal that fits your needs.

Is the Sponge Coaster available?

Not currently. The Coaster tracks hydration for glasses and cups on a desk or table and is coming back in a future batch. Contact us if you want to be notified when it’s available.
